Christie Fletcher is a former On-Air Spokesperson on QVC, and a former Award Winning Journalist and TV News Anchor. In 1998 she won the National Gracie Allen Award for American Women in Radio and Television for a story she wrote and produced called “Profiles in Power”, which focused on the most successful independent business women in Austin, Texas.
Since childhood, her love and connection with animals was very strong. Christie began a journey competing on a national level showing American Saddlebred horses when she was six years old.
In 1983, at the age of seventeen, she won the coveted title of the United Professional Horsemen’s Association National Equitation Champion.
Christie’s Passion for Animals
Her passion for animals, dogs in particular, continued to grow all through her life. So as she continued her broadcasting career, she also worked towards a longtime dream to become a Certified K-9 Trainer.
Tampa, the lost puppy who found her, inspired many things. They partnered and became Search and Rescue Certified, Pet Therapy Certified, and worked as a team to help abandoned and abused shelter dogs find new lives.
In 2004, Christie co-founded “Crane’s Critters” along with a local radio station in Sarasota. Under Christie’s guidance, “Crane’s Critters” became one of the most successful adoption programs in the nation, with thousands of animals finding their forever homes.
Tampa’s Spirit is Alive
In August of 2020, Christie left the broadcasting world to complete the dream of working full time as a Certified K-9 Trainer. She continues to keep Tampa’s spirit alive by helping people better understand the human-animal bond, and keep dogs in peaceful, loving homes with their families. After all, that is where they belong.
